October 2009 After considering many qualified parties, PeaPod Homes of Sturgeon Bay WI, leaders in the High Performance Home movement, have selected Hector V. Munoz-Baras AIA, LEEDap, NCARB, as their lead Consulting Architect. In a joint press relase, Hector noted "PeaPod Homes represents a logical progression of my architectural interests. I hope to further promote the design and performance-engineered affordability of PeaPod Homes."
Munoz-Baras is a strong promoter for "green" and sustainable architecture and design. As a graduate student at the University of Pennsylvania, he studied with Don Prowler, one of the acknowledged leaders and early proponents of solar design. One of Hector's current off-the-grid projects under construction employs both passive and active systems and is expected to receive LEED gold certification. Munoz-Baras' other recent projects include a residence awarded silver LEED certification, another with a NAHB silver star rating, and yet another with a gold star rating pending. With over two decades of residential and commercial design practice, including boutique hotels, dormitories, apartment buildings, restaurants, offices, warehouses and environmental projects, Hector notes that "green and sustainability are rapidly becoming the norm." In addition to high end designs, quality affordable design has always been a priority with v. baras ARCHITECTS, the firm which Hector founded.
Hector is an acknowledged design expert in the modular building community where he has designed several projects built in record time and received with resounding acclaim.
